Elevation were a proud main sponsor of the Cyrille Regis Golf Day held on the 24th May at the Belfry.
The event was littered with names and faces that have graced the football league over the years, either as players or in top flight management. This included Dwight York, Steve Staunton, John Regis and Ron Atkinson. Along with other players and guests, they were there to support the legacy Trust inspired by Cyrille the vision of which is now being carried out so elegantly by his wife Julia, family and trustees.
The team from Elevation – led by Tony Jacques and Andy Wheeler – made good account – bringing home the ‘beat the pro prize’ at the 9th!
In her speech after the golf, Julia Regis recounted her holiday with Cyrille in New Zealand, when they were talking through retirement plans. In retirement Cyrille wanted to continue his charity work in the community – giving opportunity mainly through sport for the under privileged.
Sadly, retirement was not to be for Cyrille, who died suddenly in 2018.
After a national outpouring of genuine affection for the work he had done on and off the field through football, where Cyrille had inspired so many, irrespective of background, to take opportunity, Julia is so brilliantly carrying this vision through the Cyrille Regis Trust.
